With winter drawing in and the days getting shorter, we thought it’s time to explore lighting options for better safety and visibility on and off-road.

We’ve just run the Dark Skies Rally which involves roadbooking in complete darkness in the middle of the forest, and we’ll shortly be opening the Ice Breaker Challenge which involves multiple roadbook routes throughout the UK to ride during the winter.

With big distances to cover and low light conditions to tackle, have you considered whether your bike lights are safe and sufficient?

After teaming up with Exposure Automoto at the Big One this September, we thought we’d check out their options.

After discussing our requirements – better bike visibility for riding in dim daylight conditions, plus great night time riding visibility on the trails – they came back to us with some great options which included twin Radial 4 LEDs tucked neatly into the Adventure Spec crash bars.

They also integrated neatly into the T7 canbus wiring harness, meaning no extra controls were neccessary on the handlebars, plus it means you can add all sorts of optional extras or ‘special effects’ depending how sofisticated your bike’s canbus is.

For example, we added the option to have the lights strobe when the horn is pressed.

The lights were fitted by abikething.com   who did a great job installing and running us through the available options.

And watch the video for more details and to see how they performed on the trails at night!
