I a newcomer to Rallying, so please excuse any “obvious” questions!
I ride enduro most weekends but I am hoping to do a rally like the Hellas or Serres later this year.
I presently ride either a 300 2T or 250 4T so I need to get a decent road registered 450.
It will probably be a WR450F/450 EXC/FE450.
I am looking for a good all-rounder that I can:
Mount a roadbook for rally purposes.
Demount the roadbook easily so I can still ride enduro at the weekends.
Load up and do sections of the TET with some mates.
Based on this I am looking to see what are the basics I will need to add to a standard build 450 enduro bike, e.g.:
Roadbook – is there a straightforward roadbook holder/set-up on the market that can be mounted/demounted easily.
Fairing – I don’t want a full sized permanent fairing, but something that can be mounted/demounted with the roadbook.
Petrol tank – It looks like I need to be able to do up to 300KM per day. What is a good tank combination based on this?
Is there any other “essential” elements?
Last two questions:
Who would you recommend to “build” a decent build like this?
Are there any bikes presently for sale that would fit the bill?

Thanks for the info.
It looks like a decent bike. What part of Wales is it in?
Tank wise does it come with the standard 9.5L version?
Lastly what would be a good “easy to demount” roadbook holder for this model?09/03/2018 at 12:18 pm #73471
Have a look at pip pins and camlock fasteners if you want to rip the roadbook off and on quickly. Could get away with having a permanent bracket with quick release on the kit you want rid of. Or if it’s only for a couple of rallies a year maybe just go through the build every time? Presumably you’d be doing a once over the whole bike before committing to a trip in Greece etc.10/03/2018 at 10:09 am #73472
Hello Maki….thanks for the feedback. I will have a look at those options.12/03/2018 at 12:49 pm #73474
A lot of people use a “rally lite” set up with the RMS handlebar mounts (available via F2R in Portugal). Rally Raid Products do a similar set up and Chris Foster (CMF), I thinks the intention is to sell Chris’s through this website.
You will need a road book plate to mount on to whatever system you use and the road book holder and trip meter bolt to the plate.
You will guess from that, you also need a trip meter: The ICO Rallye Max (wired sensor to front wheel) or Rallye Max G (GPS operated with built in compass) are the “industry standard” these days.
Many people use a larger tank, something around 13 litres will be fine for most rallies (that’s what I use on a 525 EXC). Check the fuel range required by the rallies you’re interested in, some will be do-able on a standard tank.
Not sure about a fairing on a bar mounted set up as i have the full frame mounted option but I’m sure someone has

Hello Tony………Really appreciate the comprehensive response. I will review the different websites now.19/03/2018 at 1:15 pm #73507
I am looking to make the system form Chris Foster easy to mount and unmount on the bike – currently 4 bolts !!
Also I am looking at putting a better lighting system on the bike whilst retaining the standard enduro headlight set up (bike = EXC 500) and then add a mini screen to protect the roadbook eletrics and provide a bit of protection to the rider.

I have bought a Husqvarna TE449 – I have a 2013 TE250 already and I find it bullet proof. Hopefully the TE 449 will be as reliable.
Now I need to kit it out.
I need a larger tank. I see both IMS and Bianchi Prata make them. Has anyone had experience of either one?
Might anyone have one for sale second hand?
I also want to put on an electric roadbook to start practicing the navigation end – again is anyone selling on with a mounting bracket etc.?
