So, it’s that dreaded time of year to renew.
With a tower, fairing, tanks and nav gear, my 690 has grown well out of its original form, so I better insure it right.
If you have a list of mods as long as your arm, who are you using?
Answers on a postcard please 🙂
I have my EXC insured through MSM Insurance, they allow £1000 of modifications with no quibbles. Most of my gear came with the bike but I worked out it would cost about £1K to replace everything.
Another advantage is they specialise in dirt bikes and offer guaranteed cover during events when on road liaisons in Rally, Enduro or trials, This can be a bit of a grey area with other insurers.
The downsides…. They only offer TPFT and its only insured for theft if secured with a “Sold Secure” device. I just use a disc lock if I leave the bike anywhere.
My 690 is insured through IAM Surety (aka Cornmarket Insurance) it has about £4K of mods but they were happy to insure it as long as none of them were “performance mods”

Thanks for that Tony,
I’ll look into them both.
