This year’s Kielder 500 Adventure Rally was sold out in record time, and those who scored an entry were in for an absolute treat of a weekend!
It was probably the dryest conditions we’ve ever experienced in the forest, and while the dust causes its own set of issues for the riders, the blue skies and sunshine certainly set the scene for some stunning images.
Adventure or Rally?
There was ja full house with 180 riders participating in this year’s event, with two classes to choose from, Rally and Adventure Rally. The split was almost 50/50, with around 90 riders in each class. Riders had to navigate accurately and adhere to strict speed zones. The successful riders minimised penalties and took the honours.
A new setting in the heart of the forest
We’ve been fortunate to have received ongoing support from Forestry England for our events in Kielder Forest, and we’ve recently been granted permission to use the Kielder Castle as Rally HQ for our last couple of events in the area. Not your usual ‘bivouac’ setting, however being located in the heart of the forest with a fantastic campsite nextdoor it provided a great central start and finish point for the riders, as well as a great backdrop!
