The 2025 Tour of Portugal is open for entries and with more days of riding and a brand new five star bivouac, it’s looking to be bigger and better than ever before!
the beginning of something big
The Tour of Portugal Adventure Rally began as a collaboration event between Burt of RallyMoto and Rui Matias of Portugal Offroad over 12 years ago. For many personalities in the UK rally scene, such as Robbie Wallace who is off to Dakar 2025, and Joe Mercer of Desert Rose Racing, the Tour of Portugal was their first taste of rallying abroad.
The event has since then become well known as the perfect ‘stepping stone’ event for UK riders to try out roadbooking on foreign terrain, as a precursor for even bigger and more competitive events around Europe and Africa.
MAKING IT EASY
Packaged as an all inclusive rally experience, the Tour of Portugal offers big days of riding in the endless off-road terrain of the Portuguese mountains, with the comfort of a central hotel/ bivouac included in the price, plus the company of fellow members of RallyMoto. There is also an option to transport your bikes from the UK to the hotel in Portugal in one of the trailers provided by the RallyMoto logistics team. For those who want to make the most of their trip to Portugal and enjoy some personal riding time, there is even an option to delay your bike return by a week.
MORE RIDING TIME, MORE RIDING OPTIONS
Previously a three day Adventure Rally, the number of riding days will for the first time ever, be extended to five, with a prologue on day one followed by four full days of riding, making it closer in duration to the likes of the Hellas and Dinaric Rallies.
The event also caters for adventure riders as well as competitive rally racers, with two classes available to take part in, depending on your level of riding and what you want out of the event. Adventure Class skips the gnarly sections and sticks to the wider gravel tracks which weave endlessly across the mountain-tops and through the forests of central Portugal. The days are a bit shorter and therefore less taxing on those on the bigger bikes.
Rally Class is there to push riders who are looking for a real rally experience with big days on the bike, challenging terrain, tougher roadbook navigation, and special stages timed to the second.
On the final night of the event, trophy’s are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in each class.
“The event of the year!”
The Tour of Portugal truly is a special experience, encompassing the support and friendly nature of the RallyMoto membership and the excitement of riding all day in breathtaking scenery, along some of the most enjoyable and remote tracks on offer in all of Europe. Year after year, riders are commenting on it being their favourite event they’ve attended, and the number of returning riders each year says it all.
For those of you who are tempted to take the next step in your roadbooking adventures, to challenge yourself in foreign terrain and return each day the comfort of a five star hotel and unwind over a meal with fellow RallyMoto members, then look no further.
