The ZERO HERO CHALLENGE – WALES

8th & 9th November 2025

The epic welsh Adventure Rally in mid Wales which takes you through some of best forestry areas and scenic byways in the Cambrian mountains.

We have been working with Natural Resources Wales (Welsh Forestry) for over a year now and FANTASTIC NEWS, we are able to run a BIG roadbook navigation event in this awesome terrain.

The ZERO HERO Challenge is a 100% digital event, and run under strict ZERO HERO rules, so the more penalty points you have the further you slide down the leaderboard.

All speeds in the Forestry will be restricted – this is NOT A SPEED event.

Get ready for two days of roadbook navigation through the most remote and beautiful parts of Wales.

With a high percentage of off-road and trail riding, which is 100% suited to the “big” adventure bikes, you will be able to ride in areas of Wales which are only made available for this event.

It is a remote area and just what your adventure bike was made for.

The event is a two day roadbook ZERO HERO Adventure Rally. The roadbook is has been especially created for the event and is the same format and style as the “Adventure Rally Raids”.

We are working on a new format for 2025, with an increased difficulty on Navigation and speed restrictions on all Forestry sections.

Riders will be expected to navigate the course using the roadbook which will be available digital format only.

Each day comprises of a course which is in excess of 250km with a large percentage of the going being hard base gravel tracks and fire roads within the Welsh forests.

A level of self sufficiency is required as this is a remote part of the UK. Riders will be expected to carry tools and spares along with water and food for the day. There will be places for fuel and food marked on the roadbook for fuel and refreshments.

  • Speed zones must be adhered to.  Incremental penalty system for overspeeding.
Overspeeding in speed zones = penalty points.
  • Massive PNZ zone – almost the whole course – so navigation is key on this event.
  • Breaking the capped top speed throughout the event = penalty points and potential disqualification.

Bikes and Tyres

This event has been specifically designed for the bigger adventure bikes and the Zero Hero Challenge course has been created with this in mind.

*** NO ENDURO BIKES PERMITTED FOR THE 2025 ZERO HERO CHALLENGE.  This means no EXCs or similar.  Small adventure bikes such as CRF-Ls are fine.  If you have any confusion what your bike is classified as, email us and check prior to entering.

The course 100% suitable for dual sport tyres.  The organisation team will have ridden all the course prior to the event to check its suitability.

Fuel and Range

The challenge is set in a remote part of the UK and the bikes taking part will need a range of 160km (100 miles) on a single tank of fuel. Most of the big adventure bikes are capable of this. All fuel stops will be at commercial filling stations and marked on the roadbook.

FAQ’s

If any riders have any questions please email [email protected] or call 0770 392 4448.

Will my new bike be OK as I don’t want to damage it?
We would consider the tracks and back roads we use to be perfect for the “Big” adventure bikes that are able to cover distance and handle light off road. The courses are designed for minimal damage to your bike. Of course we cannot guarantee everything as it is a bit of an adventure after all.  We will be sure to notify you if a particular route is especially challenging and if you would be better off on off road biased tyres.
Is my bike suitable?
Our routes are tailored for adventure bikes, as often there are long distances covered and the off road sections aren’t too technical.  Some of our more ‘extreme’ events can be ridden on smaller enduro and trail bikes, but overall our aim is to provide riders of big bikes a places to ride and experience what their adventure bikes are really capable of and actually made for!  There are many places available for enduro riders in the UK, however routes suitable for taking big bikes off road are less common, hence why we aim to provide for this realm of riders.
Do I need to bring fuel?
No. Definitely not, the route passes commercial fuel stations and you should refuel here. Maximum distance between fuel stops is 80-100 km (50 – 60 miles). Just make sure you are fully fuelled at the start.
Do I need my own roadbook equipment?
No, RallyMoto can provide an “adventure roadbook holder” to each rider.  If you need one this can be added to your order when you fill out the entry form.  This has to returned after the event.  For more info click here.
Do I need an accurate trip?
Yes, at this adventure level of riding we use an app on a Smart phone which is very good and it attached to the supplied roadbook holder.  Details can be found here.
What if I've never Navigated using a roadbook before?
Watch our ‘Getting Started with Roadbook Navigation’ series or download the free guide to familiarise yourself with the concept.  There is always plenty of support at the events and the team and fellow riders are always available to help with any questions you might have.

RallyMoto is pleased to have the support of these great partners.
